As modern life science research is happening across scientific disciplines, individual scientists and single labs often lack some of the expertise required to address all aspects of a research question. Moreover, researchers often require the use of different, highly complex technologies and resource collections. Access to multiple high-end technologies and services is essential for comprehensive research, but is in most cases not easily available for every scientist.

To support the global effort to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, Life Sciences Research Infrastructures (LS RIs) are  prioritising COVID-19 research . LS RIs are  ready and able to provide expert advice and resources to meet a variety of research needs . Many infrastructure services are still available via remote access and, where possible, the  cost of access will be minimised or waived.

The European Life Science Research Infrastructures (LS RIs) were established to overcome a technology gap and to allow access to much-needed technologies in modern research approaches. They have the mission to support cutting-edge science by offering access to the latest technologies, comprehensive resource collections and technical expertise.
