The Lexington County Master Gardener Volunteers is a non-profit educational service organization of trained volunteers who provide sound, research-based horticultural information to the community. The Master Gardener Program is a completely volunteer-based development program offered by Clemson University Extension Service and is designed to increase the availability of horticultural information and improve the quality of life through horticultural projects in local and state communities.

The first step to becoming a South Carolina Master Gardener is completion of the Master Gardener Volunteer Training Class (MGVTC).  The class will meet for at least 40 instructional hours and successful completion requires regular attendance and passing a final exam.  Certification follows with 40 hours of Educational Service.
