Quaint and charming, idyllic and restful and only 90 minutes drive north from Brisbane and 50 minutes from the Sunshine Coast. The town is on the Mary River which flows north from Maleny through Conondale, Kenilworth, Gympie, Tiaro, Maryborough, and then into the sea opposite Fraser Island.

The commercial centre of the township began with the opening of the General Store (now Kenilworth Bakery) in 1924 and developed over the next two decades culminating in the opening of the Kenilworth Hotel in November 1939. The 1920-30's charm of the buildings has been preserved by local people and retained by council regulation.

Imbil State Forest and Conondale National Park with their magnificent forests, deep gorges and spectacular views offer walking tracks, peaceful camping spots and great swimming holes.
