I am a clinical and disaster psychologist and an associate professor at the University of the Philippines Visayas. My work (i.e., research and practice) focusses on mental health after disasters, specifically on those who respond in the aftermath of these critical events (e.g., first responders, humanitarian workers). I am particularly interested in the effect of social support on post-traumatic psychological outcomes.

I earned my PhD in Psychology at Massey University  in Wellington, New Zealand under the New Zealand Scholarships (formerly New Zealand ASEAN Scholarship) programme. I finished my MA in Psychology at the University of the Philippines Diliman , with Clinical Psychology as my area of concentration, and my BA (Psychology) at the University of the Philippines Visayas , Miagao, Iloilo.

I was an editorial fellow and currently a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Traumatic Stress . I am also an Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) Young Scientist and an alumnus of the Hyogo Institute for Traumatic Stress in Kobe, Japan for a course on Mental Health Services after Disasters in Asia; and of the Psychological Intervention after Disasters Workshop by the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) in Mianyang, China.
