Description: Dr. Jan Karem Höhne, is a postdoc researcher in the ERC-funded POLITSOLID project at the Department of Political Science.
I am junior professor at the Leibniz University Hannover in association with the German Centre for Higher Education and Science Research and research fellow at the Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology at the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Before that I was senior postdoc in the ERC-funded POLITSOLID project at the Political Science Department at the Un iversity of Duisburg-Essen , postdoc at the Collaborative Research Center “Political Economy of Reforms” at the University of Mannh
My research combines survey research and computational social science. I apply Automatic Speech Recognition, Natural Language Processing, and generative AI applications for measuring political and social attitudes. This also includes the exploration of new, digital data sources and forms for empirical social research. Specifically, I focus on the utilization of audio, image, and video data streams.
I jointly founded the Mobile Apps and Sensors in Surveys workshop and co-edit the open-access journal methods data analyses . Since the start of my PhD at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Göttingen (Germany) in 2014 I published more than 40 research articles. Most of them in internationally established journals, such as Computers in Human Behavior , Journal of the Royal Statistical Society (Series A) , Public Opinion Quarterly , and Social Science Computer Review .
