When you play poker, you’re betting against the other players at the table in order to win a pot of chips. This can be done through raising your bets when you think you have the best poker hand, or bluffing to get opponents to call your raises.
There are many different poker games, each with a unique set of rules. However, the majority of these games follow the same basic principles. The game can be played by two to 14 players. In each deal, one player has the privilege or obligation of making the first bet and then each player may place chips into the pot according to the rules of the poker variant being played.
Each player can decide to raise, call or fold. Raising means you want to put more money in the pot, calling is when the player before you raises and folding is when you don’t want to continue playing the hand.
