I am a Senior Research Scientist at NTT Social Informatics Laboratories . I received my PhD from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information . My research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction and Computer Supported Cooperative work. My specific research interests include decentralized web infrastructures, collaboration among open source developers, values and inclusion, and human perspectives of emerging technologies such as digital contact tracing, data portability, and remote work technologies.
I employ a combination of methods to investigate human relationships with technology across multiple scales. These include large-scale statistical analyses, natural language processing, and network analysis, as well as interviews, surveys, and user studies.
I have led and contributed to projects with researchers in Japan and internationally. My work has been published in venues such as CHI, CSCW, Social Media + Society, The Oxford Handbook of Networked Communication, and the Sage Handbook of Social Media Research Methods.
