To address the need to develop a globally useful classification system for pediatric endocrinology, promote consistency of terminology, and facilitate global collaborative research efforts, a consortium of pediatric endocrine societies (the International Classification of Pediatric Endocrine Diagnoses [ICPED] Consortium) was formed (participating societies shown below).
The content of ICPED is based on the original work of a small group of members of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) that led to development of the original ESPE Classification 1 .
