With apologies to Dr. Kuhn, one might say that scientists load their apples onto carts and push the carts on well-traveled roads over hill and over dale on into the sunset. Science, powerful and efficient, moves forward if not exactly in most exciting way imaginable.
A scientific revolution, what Kuhn called a paradigm shift, is like an earthquake. Afterward, new roads carry altered apple carts filled with apples of a type no one previously imagined.
