In order to network the exchange of ideas and expertise among core partners a consortium of European Earth Science Institutions was founded on 4 September 2012 in Potsdam. The prime objective of the GEO.8 alliance includes the use of joint infrastructures, the bundling of interests, in particular within the European research framework, and the promotion of joint project concepts.
All major fields of Earth, Planets and Environmental Sciences are represented at IPGP. Chemistry, Physics, Geology and Mathematics come together to analyse and understand the evolution and functioning of our planet.
