I am an attorney and scholar focused on legal issues involving the media, including the internet and social media. I am currently an Associate Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina , where I teach media law and ethics. I am also an Academic Affiliate of the University of South Carolina School of Law and “Of Counsel” to Fenno Law , which focuses on media and internet law.
Previously I taught media law and ethics at Louisiana State University , the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism , Baruch College (CUNY) , and the University of Nevada, Reno . I was also co-director of the Press Law and Democracy Project at Louisiana State University , and deputy director of the National Center for Courts and Media at the University of Nevada, Reno .
