In 2018 I sent a script off to BBC Radio 4 . After a number of months, having heard nothing back, I chalked it up as the unkindest rejection of them all — total radio silence — and then thought no more about it. Fast forward to the end of May 2020 and I began getting messages from former mentors, writing teachers and various other people who’d read my script. I’d like to be able to say that these emails were from editors or producers at the BEEB but the truth is more interesting than that.
The messages were from a number of knowledgeable people who’d seen previous drafts of my play as part of the editing and proofing process prior to my sending it off. One of them, a busy guy, sent me a quick DM that was cryptically short.
