Rave Against the Machine
Drive 15 minutes or so south of San Francisco and you will find yourself on the shores of the aptly named Pacifica, overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Though I’ve driven past it plenty of times, this was my first time actually stopping in Pacifica for the day. The intention was to chill on the beach and catch some waves, and on the way out, hit up the skate park which is just a quick walk or drive from the beach on the other side of Highway 1.
Pacifica is a well-known beginner surf spot in the San Francisco Bay Area because the waves are typically smaller than other local spots. However, on this day, the waves were pretty big and rough, crashing hard. The south side of the beach was more manageable than the north end, which had steep, messy waves well over 6 feet. It was impressive to see a few brave souls navigate the waves on the north end. There were at least 100 surfers on the south end, which is kinda stressful considering that I’m a beginne
