As part of the 2023 TeachingWorks Content Methods Laboratory Classes, Deborah Ball will teach a mathematics methods course to teacher candidates while teacher educators from around the country watch in person or virtually. Deborah Ball and Darrius Robinson, doctoral student and experienced mathematics teacher and coach, will lead the 2023 Elementary Mathematics Laboratory (EML) at the School at Marygrove in Detroit. Now in its 16th year, the EML is an opportunity for teachers, education leaders, and researchers to engage with others in the close study of mathematics teaching practice, exploring the complexity of teaching and investigating and challenging what it means to use skillful teaching to disrupt patterns of injustice.
