The Cultural Commission supports and helps\n fund performing arts programs for Danbury residents free of charge. The\n eleven member Commission supports the development of new arts programs \nand supports and funds local arts, cultural and ethnic activities. The \nCommission also encourages, promotes and co-sponsors events which \nbenefit and improve the quality of life for Danbury residents.
Before radio and other recorded media became popular, many families told stories and shared music by word of mouth. Some of that oral history is being lost in the modern age, and the Fieldwork Archive with the Danbury Cultural Commission wants to preserve some of those songs and stories. During the first half of this year there will be recording sessions in the ‘old’ library [on Main Street] to capture the folk songs of greater Danbury. We ask you to share your memories of your family's songs with the team
The Danbury Multimedia Arts Gallery is meant to showcase the talents of those in the Greater Danbury Area. Our goal is to give a platform for artists of all skill levels an opportunity to provide exposure for local artists .
