The budget allocated for the Ministry of Justice and Community Services (MoJCS) to set up Commissions of Inquiry (COIs) into matters requested by the Government is not enough.
Christophe Emelee, Member of Parliament (MP) for Torres Constituency, tendered his resignation as the Minister of Internal Affairs yesterday. Citing “personal reasons,” Emelee expressed his belief that he could no longer effectively fulfill his duties as a Minister of State.
The resignation of Christophe Emelee, the Member of Parliament (MP) and President of the Vanuatu National Development Party (VNDP), as the Minister of Internal Affairs will not affect the stability of the current coalition Government led by Prime Minister (PM) Ishmael Kalsakau.
