The first award he received was the Cross of Merit award presented by the Federation of European Officers. Chief Lombardi along with Chief Otto Drozd and Robert Rocha all received the Cross of Merit for their tireless efforts to build relationships and solidify bridges with our European partners in the fire service. The award is the highest award given by the FEO.
Chief Lombardi later that day was awarded the International Association of Fire Chiefs Metropolitan Division Russel E. Sanders Lifetime Achievement award, at the Metro Chief’s award ceremony. This award is granted to an individual who has demonstrated a long history of accomplishments and contributions to the Metro Chiefs organization, as well as contributions to fire safety, in general. Because of Chief Lombardi’s actions and the recognition bestowed upon him by the International Metro Fire Chiefs Association and Federation of European Officers, U.S. House of Representatives and Colorado Representative, the Honorary Brittany Petterson entered these achievements into the Congressional Record on June 12, 2023 .
