Since September 2021, I have been working as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in the Center for War Studies at the University of Southern Denmark, Odense. In this role, I am leading a project on Empathy and International Security (EIS), funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Fund.
Bridging academia and policy-making, my research explores how a better understanding of the power and potential of empathy and emotions can shape strategy and policy, and transform how we think about security, leadership, and politics.
In mid-May, I spoke at the Goethe Institut’s Kultursymposium on empathy, trust, mistrust, and what they mean for managing current and future crises. How can empathy help us overcome distrust? And what potential does it hold?
