The origins of the fedora hat can be traced back to 1887 when French designer Paul Poiret debuted a women’s dress at his “Théâtre de la Mode” fashion show.
The dress was inspired by an opera called Fedor starring Sarah Bernhardt , who popularized the titular character’s signature headwear. By the early 20th century, the fedora hat had become a staple in both men’s and women’s fashion.
