In Cape Town and the surrounding area, there are a particularly large number of webcams in a wide variety of locations. Some are operated by hotels or businesses, but the vast majority of webcams are maintained and operated by private individuals. Many provide a JPG still image that repeats after a few minutes, which is uploaded directly to a server by the camera connected to the network.
