Being truly inclusive and representative of the communities we serve
Launching in 2019, the Bristol Culture Standard is a set of pledges around best employment and working practice in arts and culture. Organisations and employers in the cultural sector across the city will be invited to sign up and deliver these standards by 2020 and beyond. The standards will help improve conditions for everyone who contributes to culture and arts in the city.
Arnolfini and Watershed and Bristol City Council Arts and Events Team have come together to catalyse this city-wide conversation. Bristol City Council and the DIY Arts Network have helped us to shape as inclusive a conversation as possible towards co-writing the Bristol Culture Standard pledges. Initial development work has shown that an inclusive and collaborative approach to writing the pledges is imperative to ensure that real change happens and so, we’ve designed a ‘co-writing’ process.
