College is not what it used to be. An estimated six million students struggle with basic living expenses, putting them at risk of leaving without degrees. This is a waste of talent and hurts our economy and our communities. We know that higher education is the most proven pathway to a stable middle class life, but it doesn’t work if students are worried about what they’ll eat, where they’ll sleep, who will take care of their children, or how they’ll get to class.
