Description: Andrew Heiss is an assistant professor at Georgia State University, researching international NGOs and teaching data science & economics.
I’m an assistant professor in the Department of Public Management and Policy at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University . I received a PhD in public policy and political science from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy in 2017.
I study how international NGOs work in authoritarian countries , and I received the 2016–2018 Emerging Scholar Dissertation Award from the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) . I do research in public administration and policy, nonprofit management, international relations, and comparative politics.
I teach courses on program evaluation and causal inference , statistics and data science , data visualization , economics , and science communication . I’m also a certified RStudio instructor and a Posit Academy mentor and absolutely love teaching how to use R and the tidyverse .
