The name ‘ Amanzimtoti ’ refers to ‘ sweet waters ’ which is said to come from the famous Zulu King, Shaka upon tasting the water from the local river during one of his campaigns – he declared “ Kanti Amanz’amtoti ” which translates to “ the water is sweet ”.
