We are happy to announce a new microfilm scanner purchased with the help of a $5,000 grant and installed on Jan. 17, 2022. The grant was awarded through the Missouri Humanities Council, which has distributed funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to a variety of state organizations. "I think the scanner will be a wonderful tool for anyone who wants to do research at the Historical Society on their family or on past events in the area," said Blytha Ellis, president of the Historical Society board.

We recently received this large sign from the former Harrington Jewelry Store which was once on the south side of the Kirksville square. This 2-sided sign looks like a large pocket watch and is made of heavy metal. It was donated by Dr. James Wells of Kansas City (shown in first picture) and installed by Mike McVey of M & M Maintenance in Kirksville (shown in second picture). This is securely attached to the beams in the ceiling of the Business Room of the museum. Be sure to see it when you visit our museum
