As of May 29, 2022 there is a lot to report.   Peru and Colombia enacted significant reforms of legal capacity (in 2018 and 2019 respectively) that include the possibility of overturning any remaining involuntary measures in mental health systems.  Mexico has just enacted a reform of its health law ( original  and English translation ) aimed at abolishing involuntary measures; civil society remains vigilant about its application and enforcement.

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has published draft Guidelines on Deinstitutionalization , which is open to public consultation until June 30.  Survivors and people still living in institutions are especially encouraged to give their views.
